The Invasion

Early in the morning of the 9th of April 1940, the Danes woke up to the sound of low flying aircrafts which were dropping leaflets over the Danish towns.

German troops had invaded Denmark, to secure the Danish airbases in their invasion of Norway.

In Copenhagen troops landed by ships, and took control over the town.

A few places along the border the Danish Army took up the fight, but the size, location and the terrain of Denmark, made it very difficult to offer any serious resistance, and after some hours of fighting the King ordered the Danish soldiers to surrender.
