The Jægercorps had an tradition in the Danish army since 1785 when the first permant light infantry units were raised with its ranks filled by professional hunters. At the beginning of the war the jaegers of both sides wore the same darkgreen uniform although the Danish corps later on preferred to wear a field cap in French style instead of the model shown here. Schleswig-Holstein forces at Bov had one jægercorps in service, made up by jægers of the 4th and 5th Corps (the latter being reduced because the recruits from Lauenburg were sent home because the Lauenburg provisional government declared neutrality).
