Armed with a Jaegerriffel model 1803 and dressed with a field cap (pattern 1842) and an irregular field dress, this officer commanded a small Danish expeditionary force against Portuguese slave traders along the Goldcoast (Ghana) in 1845.

Dressed in traditional African style but armed with an European flintlock gun, the Ashanti warrior was one of the most feared enemies of Europeans and other Africans on the Gold Coast (Ghana).
